Precision You Can Count On – The INDU LIGHT Calculation Service
Accurate planning is the foundation of energy-efficient and safe buildings. With INDU LIGHT’s calculation services, you receive reliable, standards-compliant analyses for your daylighting, smoke and heat exhaust ventilation (SHEV), and thermal insulation systems.
Our expert engineers take all relevant standards into account—from DIN 18232 and VdS 2098 to DIN 5034 Part 6 and DIN 18234—and provide precise values for thermal insulation, daylight yield, and fire protection.
This allows you to establish a solid planning foundation and achieve maximum efficiency—quickly, competently, and free of charge for our customers.

Thermal Performance Calculations
The insulated INDU LIGHT ELS systems impress with outstanding U-values and ensure maximum energy savings through effective thermal insulation. Even small improvements make a big difference. Rule of thumb: For every 0.1 W/m²K improvement in the U-value, you save about one liter of heating oil per square meter of continuous rooflight—year after year.
Do the math yourself: Select the desired glazing type, enter your current heating oil or gas price, and immediately see your individual annual heating cost savings.

Daylight Calculations
Daylight achieves a much higher illuminance than artificial light. The bright zenithal light provided by skylights requires about five times less glazing area than horizontal daylight from windows to achieve the same illuminance.
INDU LIGHT develops daylighting concepts that take specific requirements and regulations into account. In accordance with the DIN 5034 series of standards, “Daylight in Interior Spaces,” we determine your daylight requirements for the entire building. To do this, INDU LIGHT uses a specially developed lighting calculation tool as well as the FastCalc program—the daylight program of the Fachverband Tageslicht und Rauchschutz e.V. (FVLR).

Custom Ventilation Designs & Calculations
Whether it’s a bakery, industrial facility, or warehouse—the requirements for optimal ventilation vary significantly depending on the building’s use. Our specially trained experts provide comprehensive consultation, explain applicable regulations, and prepare precise ventilation calculations for your building.
We rely on three proven approaches for designing custom ventilation systems:
- Based on fast air exchange rates – for targeted control of fresh air and exhaust air
- According to Workplace Directive ASR A3.6 (Part 5) – to ensure compliance with labor law requirements
- Based on heat loads – for efficient regulation of room temperatures and energy consumption

Smoke and Heat Exhaust System Calculations
INDU LIGHT designs, supplies, and installs custom-sized smoke and heat exhaust systems (SHE), precisely tailored to the requirements of your building. During the planning phase, we take into account all relevant design standards and guidelines—including DIN 18232, VdS 2098, industrial building codes, and TRVB S 125 (Austria). Fire safety requirements for roof penetrations and fire spread protection in accordance with DIN 18234 are, of course, also incorporated into our project planning.
We provide comprehensive support in the design of your smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system and handle all calculations—precisely, in compliance with standards, and free of charge. Upon request, we also determine the required daylight ratio in accordance with DIN 5034 Part 6 and prepare a smoke and heat exhaust calculation in accordance with DIN 18232 Part 2 or VdS 2098.

Structural Calculations & Approvals
Our continuous rooflights come standard with structural calculations for wind suction loads up to 0.80 kN/m² and snow loads up to 3.50 kN/m². All NRVD systems (natural smoke and heat exhaust devices) are tested for a snow load of 500 N/m² and a wind load of 1,500 N/m².
Higher load ratings are available upon request—we would be happy to advise you on individual structural requirements and custom solutions.

Sound Insulation Calculations
The ELS system from INDU Light boasts a certified soundproofing value of up to 33 dB, thereby meeting the strict requirements of the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) and the Technical Guidelines on Noise Protection (TA Lärm). These guidelines establish binding limits to protect the public from the effects of noise.
We would be happy to provide you with information on additional sound insulation options and customized solutions for your continuous rooflight.
FAQ – INDU LIGHT Calculation Services
Our calculation services provide accurate, standards-compliant analyses for daylight, smoke and heat exhaust, ventilation, and thermal insulation systems. All calculations are performed in accordance with current standards such as DIN 18232, VdS 2098, DIN 5034, and DIN 18234—reliably, quickly, and free of charge.
Precise planning ensures energy efficiency, safety, and durability. Our calculations provide you with reliable data on thermal insulation, fire protection, and daylight utilization—the foundation for buildings that are both economically and technically optimal.
Our ELS systems stand out for their outstanding U-values. Even an improvement of just 0.1 W/m²K saves about one liter of heating oil per square meter of continuous rooflight per year. You can calculate your heating cost savings directly yourself using our online tool.
Using a daylight calculation in accordance with DIN 5034, we determine the ideal glazing area and light distribution within the building. This allows us to reduce the use of artificial lighting and achieve optimal illuminance—for greater comfort and lower energy costs.
Our ventilation designs are tailored to the specific building type and use—whether it’s a bakery, industrial facility, or warehouse. We calculate fast air exchange rates in accordance with ASR A3.6 and take heat loads into account to ensure a healthy and energy-efficient indoor climate.
We design and calculate smoke and heat exhaust systems (SHE) in accordance with DIN 18232, VdS 2098, industrial building codes, or TRVB S 125. All fire safety requirements—such as those regarding roof penetrations or fire spread protection—are taken into account in accordance with the relevant standards.
Yes. Our continuous rooflights have certified structural calculations for wind suction loads of up to 0.80 kN/m² and snow loads of up to 3.50 kN/m². Higher load requirements are possible—we can provide you with personalized advice on custom structural solutions.
The ELS system achieves a certified soundproofing value of up to 33 dB and complies with the requirements of the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) and the Technical Instructions on Noise (TA Lärm). Upon request, we can identify additional measures for enhanced noise protection.
UV radiation varies depending on the solar zone (1–5). Using our solar zone map, we tailor polycarbonate sheets precisely to local conditions—ensuring maximum UV resistance and a long service life for the materials.
INDU LIGHT operates in accordance with the highest quality standards and is TÜV-certified in accordance with
DIN EN ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and SCC. In addition, our systems meet all relevant fire safety and building product approvals: DIN EN 12101, DIN 4102, VdS, and DIBt Berlin.

Awards are nice—but what really matters is the reliability of our products. In the event of a fire, human lives are at stake: skylights must open automatically to keep escape routes free of smoke. That is why INDU LIGHT prioritizes technical precision, regular audits, and independent certifications.

Key approvals and certifications:
