Highlights
Service Procedure

Step 1: Schedule an appointment

In the event of damage, we’ll be there quickly. If you have an ongoing maintenance contract, we’ll notify you at least one week in advance of the annual visit by our SCC-certified maintenance technicians.

Step 2: Inspection

We inspect the smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system for structural changes and, as a first step, conduct a visual inspection of all functional components while they are installed. We check for any retrofitted components that may impair the control system and performance.

Step 3: Functional Test

A test activation of the smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system ensures that all alarm boxes and opening mechanisms are functioning properly. For 24-volt opening devices, we also individually check the control centers, smoke detectors, and batteries. For pneumatic systems, the CO₂ pressure cylinder is inspected.

Step 4: Maintenance

Moving components are cleaned, and worn or damaged parts are replaced with original parts after consultation. This is how we guarantee reliable maintenance in accordance with DIN 18323.

Step 5: Documentation

We document our work and record the test results for you.

Responsibility

Smoke and Heat Exhaust System Maintenance – A Legal Obligation Under Your Responsibility

The regular maintenance of smoke and heat exhaust systems is a key duty of care for building owners and operators. It is mandated by numerous laws, regulations, and technical guidelines.

Failure to perform proper maintenance can result not only in fines or regulatory requirements, including the closure of operations, but may also void warranty claims. Furthermore, if the smoke and heat exhaust system fails in the event of a fire, those responsible may face civil and criminal consequences.

FAQ

The maintenance costs for a smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system depend on various factors, such as the number of SHEV units installed, as well as their size and complexity. Typically, annual maintenance costs range from a few hundred to several thousand euros. When you choose INDU LIGHT for maintenance, we always offer a flat rate that includes travel to and from your location. Be sure to ask about our attractive multi-year contract terms or our standard on-call maintenance service with a customized quote.

According to DIN 18 232, maintenance work may only be performed by specialized companies qualified for NRA. INDU LIGHT is one such specialized company. We also perform maintenance work on products from other manufacturers.

According to DIN 18 232, maintenance must be performed at regular intervals, typically once a year. We handle this periodic inspection of your smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system—regardless of the manufacturer.

In the event of a fire, VdS-compliant maintenance documentation simplifies the insurer’s processing and compensation of fire damage. With its VdS certification, INDU LIGHT guarantees compliance with the strict requirements for safety systems. This applies to every stage, from planning and installation to the maintenance of fire protection systems.

Maintenance of a smoke and heat exhaust ventilation (SHEV) system by INDU LIGHT includes a functional test of the system, a visual inspection of all functional components while installed, cleaning and lubricating all functional components and opening mechanisms, cleaning the activation elements (valves, glass bulbs) in pneumatic smoke and heat exhaust systems, as well as the inspection of CO₂ pressure cylinders and, if necessary, their replacement at an additional charge, the final inspection, and the issuance of a maintenance report. In addition, the 24V smoke and heat exhaust control panel and other 24V smoke and heat exhaust components (if present) are inspected accordingly and replaced as needed at an additional charge.

Maintenance of a smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system should always be performed by a certified specialist company. This ensures you have optimal protection in the event of damage. In addition, care should be taken to ensure that not only a visual inspection is performed, but also a functional test of all installed components.

If a smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system is not regularly maintained, there is no guarantee that it will open in the event of a fire. As the operator, you risk not only heavy fines but, more importantly, endangering human lives. At the latest during the safety inspection, which is required every 3–6 years, a poorly maintained smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system can become a problem.
