Grants for Daylighting Systems – Get the Right Advice
Daylighting systems such as skylights, flat roof windows, and continuous rooflights are key components of the building envelope. Energy efficiency improvements are achieved primarily by replacing older continuous rooflights with poor U-values. In this case, our modern systems significantly increase energy efficiency. They also enhance the quality of the indoor environment. When new daylight openings are created in existing buildings, the focus is on the benefits of additional natural daylight and the resulting comfort for the people inside the building. Attractive subsidy programs are available for new construction and renovation projects—we’ll show you which options are right for your project and how you can benefit from government grants.
How to Take Advantage of Grants
Grant for non-residential buildings - 15%
For the installation of new skylights, flat-roof windows, and continuous rooflights, you can apply for a government grant currently amounting to 15% (up to €75 per square meter of the project’s net floor area).
Grant for residential buildings - up to 20%
For residential buildings, the subsidy is 15%, up to a maximum of €4,500 per dwelling unit per calendar year. With a renovation roadmap (iSFP), subsidies of up to 20% are available (up to a maximum of €12,000 per dwelling unit per calendar year).
Loans - Low-interest KfW promotional loans
If you have received a positive funding approval, you can apply for a low-interest KfW promotional loan to cover the remaining investment amount.

Step 1: Consultation & Sales
Personalized consultation and preparation of a customized quote for your project.

Step 2: Sign the contract

Step 5: Verification & Completion
Upon completion, the expert prepares the technical project documentation.

Step 6: Receive the grant
The BAFA conducts a final review—if the decision is positive, the funds are disbursed.
FAQ

Yes. Once your grant application has been approved, you can also apply for a low-interest KfW grant loan to finance the remaining investment costs. This way, you benefit twice—through the grant and affordable financing.
The process consists of six steps:
- Consultation & Quote Preparation
- Contract signing, including funding conditions
- Eligibility check & application submission by febis GmbH
- Start of construction following funding approval by the BAFA
- Technical verification upon completion
- Payment of funding after positive review
The technical review and application process are handled by the grant service of febis GmbH, an experienced partner in grant consulting for energy-efficient construction.
Construction cannot begin until the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) has officially approved the funding. Starting too early could result in the loss of funding—we will help you coordinate the timing properly.
Once the work has been completed and the technical documentation submitted, the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) reviews the application. If the application is approved, the grant is paid directly to the applicant.
