Fall and fall-through protection for continuous rooflights and skylight domes
Continuous rooflights and skylight domes that do not have sufficient structurally implemented fall-through protection must be supplemented with suitable structural or technical protective devices to reliably prevent people from falling through or falling from them. A clear safety hierarchy applies here: Permanently installed structural and technical solutions always take precedence over organizational or personal protective measures. Personal protective equipment (PPE) alone does not meet the requirements for primary fall-through protection.

Your advantages at a glance
INDU LIGHT's fall protection and anti-collapse systems can be integrated into skylights and continuous rooflights of various designs. They are available as top-mounted or bottom-mounted systems and can be used in both new construction and renovation projects.
For skylights and continuous rooflights, we offer solutions with primary and secondary protection. Primary protection serves as a fall-through barrier and prevents a person from falling through the skylight. An example of this is our corrugated grating. Secondary protection acts as a fall arrest system. If someone were to fall through a skylight, this system ensures that the person is caught by this safety feature at the very latest. An example of this is the fall arrest cage.
The permanently installed fall arrest and fall-through protection eliminates the need for a separate rescue plan. The protection is effective at all times, regardless of external conditions or the use of personal protective equipment.
The safety systems are designed to have only a minimal impact on the light transmission of the skylights. This preserves the quality of natural light while ensuring reliable protection against falls and breakthroughs.
INDU LIGHT protection systems are available for continuous rooflights and skylight domes and can also be retrofitted to current INDU LIGHT products. For older systems and third-party products, a case-by-case assessment is required. Our on-site technical advisor will be happy to assist you.
The DHSS_W external wave grille, as a primary safety system, offers more than just comprehensive fall-through protection. Thanks to its tight mesh size, it is equally suitable as a hail protection system. Its hail resistance class HW 5 has been verified through extensive testing.
Our security systems are also certified as burglary protection systems. The DHSS_W external louvered grille, when equipped with additional profiles, achieves the certified resistance class RC 3, while the DSS_Q internal system achieves resistance class RC 2. Both systems can be retrofitted to existing buildings. We are happy to conduct the necessary case-by-case assessment for you.
Skylight solution
The INDU LIGHT DHSS_W wave grille provides both fall-through protection and hail protection in accordance with hail resistance class HW5. The corrosion-resistant fine steel mesh is designed for high stability and is mounted above the glazing with an optimized grid spacing of approximately 40 mm—for maximum safety with high light transmission.

The DSS_A internal fall protection system provides maximum safety for skylights. The highly stable, corrosion-resistant grid element with a modern honeycomb design is delivered pre-assembled to the flashing at the factory—for a safe, ready-to-use solution.

Skylight solution
The DHSS_W wave grille provides both fall-through protection and hail protection in accordance with hail resistance class HW5. The highly stable, corrosion-resistant fine steel mesh is installed approximately 40 mm above the glazing with optimal spacing, ensuring high light transmission while providing maximum safety.

The DSS_S fall-through protection system reliably protects continuous rooflights from people falling through them using a robust, external aluminum angle bracket construction. The profiles, arranged in strips, are mounted at short intervals on the cover strips and provide lasting safety—compatible with all INDU LIGHT continuous rooflight lines and, upon request, with other brands as well.

The DSS_Q fall-through protection system provides reliable and long-lasting safety for roof openings. The highly stable, corrosion-resistant steel mesh with a 150-mm grid is installed directly on the upper edge of the upstand and ensures robust protection. Thanks to its versatile mounting brackets, the system is equally suitable for new construction as well as for the efficient retrofitting of existing upstands.

The DSS_V fall-through protection system, designed specifically for traffic routes, provides reliable and long-lasting protection along traffic routes around continuous rooflights. The external aluminum angle construction, arranged in strips, ensures robust protection while maintaining largely consistent light transmission. Five precisely guided profiles are mounted on both sides of the cover strips at a maximum spacing of 200 millimeters, ensuring even load distribution. The system is suitable for all INDU LIGHT skylight lines and can also be adapted to third-party products upon request.
